Ports of Philadelphia

On Friday our group took tour of the ports that import through Philadelphia. Instead of walking we changed up and used a tour bus and guide. We looked at the ports and what came into them. All types of different exports came in. (examples) trains, cars, fruit, cattle, etc. We also looked at the equipment used to get the exports off the ships. There are giant cranes that take off the crates, machines to move the crates, and trucks to distribute the crates. Businesses hire people to make sure the cargo is handled correctly. There is machinery to handled other parts of this process like when cocoa beans (which is held in sacks) have metal in them in order to get more for the pound. There are machines to take them out. With all the info and seeing the ports in action, it looks like a well handled establishment. It would be helped by digging a deeper canal even if it hurts the environment.
